Get a copy of your data or delete it

Ask for a copy of your data, delete sites, workspaces or your whole account, and see how long Obelisk keeps each kind of data.

You can ask for a copy of everything Obelisk keeps about you, delete things you no longer need, or delete your account. This article explains each step and how long data is kept, as set out in our privacy policy.

Get a copy of your data

  1. Open the account menu at the top right and choose Account.
  2. Under Your data, choose Ask for a copy.

This opens an email to privacy@theobelisk.app. We'll confirm it's you, usually by asking you to write from your account's email address, and send your data within 30 days.

For a single audit, you can also download its pages and issues as CSV files or the report as a PDF. See Share, export and brand your reports.

Delete sites and audits

When you delete a site, audit, competitor or document, it moves to Trash first. Open Trash from the account menu to Restore anything you still need. Everything else is deleted for good 30 days after you moved it there, and each item shows the date. To delete something sooner, choose Delete forever. This can't be undone.

Delete a workspace

There's no button to delete a workspace in Settings. To delete one, email privacy@theobelisk.app from your account's email address. A deleted workspace is hidden at once and erased within 30 days. A workspace is also erased with your account if you're the only person in it.

Delete your account

  1. Open the account menu and choose Account.
  2. Under Delete account, choose Delete account.
  3. Read what goes. Workspaces only you are in are deleted with everything in them. You leave workspaces that have other people, and their sites stay with their owners. If Search Console is connected, Obelisk's access is revoked at Google.
  4. Tick the box to confirm you understand, then choose Delete account.

Before you can delete your account, Obelisk may ask you to:

  • make someone else the owner of a workspace you own with other people (Open team)
  • cancel a paid plan, so you're not charged again (Open billing)

When you confirm, you're signed out everywhere. You then have 7 days to change your mind: sign in before the date shown and choose Keep my account, and everything stays as it was. After that, your account and data are erased, always within 30 days of your request.

How long we keep data

  • Your account, workspaces, sites, audits, chats and connections: while your account is open.
  • Sites, audits, competitors and documents you delete: 30 days in the trash.
  • Exported PDF and CSV files: 7 days.
  • Report share links: until the date you set, or until you turn them off.
  • Sign-in sessions: 7 days from your last use, or until you sign out.
  • Server logs: 14 days.
  • Database backups: a rolling 14 days. A final backup taken when a database is shut down is kept for up to 90 days.
  • Activity log: for the life of your organization. After account deletion we keep only entries that contain IDs, as a security record.
  • Billing and tax records: 7 years, as tax law requires.

Search Console data already in past audits stays with them after you disconnect, so reports stay complete. To remove it, open the site's Connections after you've disconnected Search Console, choose Delete it, then Delete data.
