Schedules, alerts and notifications

Re-audit a site on a rhythm, get told when something breaks, and choose which messages reach you by email or in the app.

Obelisk can re-check your sites on a schedule, tell you as soon as something important breaks, and send you a short summary each week, so you don't have to log in to find out.

Schedule audits

  1. Open a site's report and choose Re-audit weekly in the report header. You can also open Schedule and alerts from the account menu at the top right while you're on a site.
  2. Under How often, choose Daily, Weekly, Every 2 weeks or Monthly.
  3. Choose the day under On and the time under At. Times use your own time zone.
  4. Turn on Email me after each audit if you want an email each time.
  5. Choose the start button, for example Start weekly audits.

A sentence above the button confirms the schedule and the next run. After saving, the header button shows the schedule, and its menu has Edit, Pause and Stop scheduled audits. A paused schedule reads "Paused. No audits until you resume." with Resume.

How often you can audit depends on your plan. Free audits monthly. Pro can also audit weekly and every 2 weeks. Team and Agency can audit daily too. Options your plan doesn't include show which plan unlocks them.

Scheduled audits use your monthly pages. The card shows roughly how many pages the schedule needs and how many you have left. If you run out, scheduled audits pause until your pages reset. A scheduled audit is also skipped if the site was audited too recently, and the card says why.

Turn on alerts

Open Schedule and alerts for the site. Each alert is a sentence with a switch, and some have a number you can change:

  • Tell me when Site health drops by 5 points or more
  • Tell me when a new Fix now problem appears
  • Tell me when an important page stops working: your homepage and pages that get clicks from Google
  • Tell me when clicks from Google fall by 10% or more, comparing the last 90 days with four weeks earlier

All four are on by default with these numbers. The clicks alert needs Search Console; until it's connected it says Needs Search Console with Connect.

Each alert goes out at most once a day, and you get one message when things are back to normal. Alerts reach everyone in the workspace.

Your inbox

The bell in the top bar opens your inbox. Choose Open inbox for the full page, with All, Alerts and Reports tabs. Choose a message to open what it's about. Hover a message to Mark read or Hide, or use the More menu for Mark all as read.

Choose what reaches you

Open the inbox's More menu and choose Notification settings.

  • Weekly summary: what changed on your sites, once a week. Choose the Day and Time. It's on by default, on Mondays.
  • For Something needs attention, Audit finished, Problems fixed and Teammate activity, turn Email and In app on or off.

By default, alerts come by email and in the app, and everything else comes in the app only. Changes save as you make them. These settings are yours alone; teammates choose their own.

Unsubscribe from an email

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom for that kind of email, such as Unsubscribe from these emails or Stop weekly summaries. Choose it, then Unsubscribe. You can turn the emails back on any time in Notification settings.
