Obelisk's tracking code shows you who your leads are and how they found you. You add one line of code to your site, and it respects your visitors' cookie choices.
Tracking comes with the Pro, Team and Agency plans. See Billing and plans.
Open tracking setup
With your site on screen, open Tracking under Customers in the sidebar. The page is called Set up tracking and walks you through a few numbered steps.
Step 2: copy the code
- Press Create my code.
- Press Copy code.
- Paste it into the head of every page, or into your site builder's custom code setting.
Open Using a site builder? for where it goes:
- WordPress: add it with a header code plugin, or in your theme's header.
- Webflow: Site settings, Custom code, Head code, then publish.
- Shopify: Online Store, Themes, Edit code, theme.liquid, inside the head.
- Squarespace: Settings, Advanced, Code injection, Header.
- Google Tag Manager: a Custom HTML tag that fires on all pages.
Open More options to change the Email field name and Name field name we read from your forms, add Your other domains, or, with Obelisk's banner, add Your privacy policy link. The code updates as you type, so copy it again after a change.
We only keep the email and name people type into your forms, and only from visitors who said yes to cookies. We never keep anything else they type.
Step 3: tell Obelisk when a visitor says yes
This step only appears if your site has its own banner. Under Tell Obelisk when a visitor says yes, choose:
- Google Consent Mode: if your banner already sends Google Consent Mode, there's nothing to add.
- Any other banner: add the line
obelisk.consent(true);where your banner handles Accept.
Check it works
The last step, Check it works, shows Waiting for your first visit… Open your site in a new tab to send one. When it arrives, you'll see Tracking is live with the time of the last visit. Press See your leads to open Leads.
If something goes wrong
- Still waiting: open Still waiting?. Check that the code is on your site, that you saved and published it, and that an ad blocker in your browser isn't stopping it.
- "We're getting visits from another address": the code is on a different site. Put the code on this site, or add that address as its own site.
- "Couldn't save your tracking settings. Try again.": your choice didn't save. Try again.
